Damage Control

When a line gets stepped over
and things are on fire,
the military code
is damage control.

When the heart gets kicked
and it's down to the wire,
the last ditch effort
is damage control.

Wrestling angels
with wings of lace,
taking on Paradise
volume and base,
sinking or swimming
not leaving a trace,
rendering neutral
lowering toll,
this is the nature
of damage control.

Here is the heart
and there is the fire
billowing smoke
and words that aspire.

What is the measure
of seeing it through,
sealing all treasure
and bloodless coup?

Taking no prisoners
and begging by bowl;
this is the nature
of damage control.
