Freedom
A trapped bird staring,
Paradise just outside the bars,
This self consuming life,
Open the door and let me fly,
See the world and explore it alone,
I don't want another hand,
Pulling on my feathers of flight,
I need the sky to be my own,
Let me shape this life of clay,
And let it be me do it my way.
A twisted tree warped,
Lichen covered and mushroomed,
I am an ugly tree in a filling forest,
Pushed to the center and looked down on,
Let me grow tall and untainted,
Love is my poison and I'm dying,
Freedom is my cure,
I dare you to give it to me,
I don't care if it's to my own risk,
It's a bigger risk still holding me,
As a captive little sprout.
