A Poet's Dilemma
A short white candle,
burning
on the desk.
Ink and blotter,
a pen
at rest.
A piece of paper,
no lines
no rhymes.
Its brothers,
crumpled
a thousand times.

Very nice poem! recognisable, the empty white page which can be a great hiding place but which can also stare back at you....

Sweet images, old-style.. Lol, poems now on the keyboard - well, at least some of us.
May try lighting a candle, getting pen and paper, and see what kind of poem results.

Thank you. kinda ironic writing a poem about writer's block when you have writer's block. this image just came to mind so i went with it. And I think i am one of the few who still pens things out first. then i finish it on the computer where my hen scratchings don't get in the way.

No cjflier! Im one of those types too. I ink with a pen first, then computerize later. Funny thing about me is, I never have writer's block when writing poetry. But I constantly have it when working on my novel. Soooooo, I stop thinking about writing and go do the total opposite, which could last days, weeks and months. haha
I like the scene you set! It's quite a cozy dilemma for a poet! :)

Thank you for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I spent a couple days trying to come up with something, then the vision above just popped into my head, and I've learned to go with it.
P.S. If your novel is anything like your poetry, I would love to be the first in line to buy a copy, if you don't mind [autographed, of course].
