Shrapnel Valentine
I opened my valentine card love-letter bomb
Where I was penetrated by your shrapnel caress
The stabbing pain grafted to my nervous system
Between my skin and your own which we shared
Under a moonlight sonata in my brain
A beating lump breaks through the seams
Of a chest followed by the slithered entrails
Of a once live heart now spilling down the drain
Feeding lovelorn vampires who have gone insane
Why did you burn my bed of roses?
You stole my halo's self-esteem
Give me back my book of matches
You're a bitter pill I cannot swallow
So there we were out in the rain with your harsh hot words
Keeping you warm as you stood there without much to wear
You gave back the old winter coat of mine which you once craved for
It was torn and worn and you said staring straight through me
"I'm sorry, but I just don't feel you anymore."
You screamed, fighting the words you were afraid to say
"Should have told me the stars, the wind, the rain was how you felt for me."
But words mean nothing though, don't you see?
All I ever did was try to show you these, actions speak louder
Why did you burn my bed of roses?
You stole my halo's self-esteem
Give me back my book of matches
You're a bitter pill I cannot swallow
The limelight is fading now which puts an end
To this cookie cutter friendship which lead astray
To a vodka loving muse whose dear friend
Rots as her creative ashtray
Reminiscing of gilded memories as she fades to gray
But perhaps I never loved you that way
But was so enthralled by the idea of you
And the imagination which breathed inspiration
How could I know with my chance denied?
Why did you burn my bed of roses?
You stole my halo's self-esteem
Give me back my book of matches
You're a bitter pill I cannot swallow
Where I was penetrated by your shrapnel caress
The stabbing pain grafted to my nervous system
