Being blind

I missed a step, fell
the first clue
for the
entire school
that I was blind.
Before that I
was like
a classic
mascot
the education system's
little runt.
Pushed & teased
principally punished
the class sleaze
the one they teazed.
But to be protected
by one teacher;
Steve.
[he kept me at ease]
I couldn't see
why all the fuss
or what the purpose
of the bullying was.
Death would serve no
recourse, just to hurt
the ones I love.
School stayed hell
up to and until
It was uncovered
on the day I fell
that the cancer patient
was not cancer ill.
