battlefield
i'm in a battlefield
treading on the blood of all who were killed
staring into the shallow unseeing eyes of the fallen
pretending i don't know it's a war no one can win
this fight i've started is a lost cause
but i can't seem to break through these walls
i've barricaded myself inside a lie
safely hidden from those who refuse to die
the sick, twisted darkness that hunts me down
threatening to reveal the secret of my frown
and the reason behind the cruel facades
that torture the light as it fades
into the shadows as i draw blood
satisfied as i watch it soak into the mud
then i see nothing at all
because i can feel pain as the shattered souls call
from the shallow graves as they echo a thousand dead men
frantically begging for the life to breathe again
and i can't deny
that no one truly had to die
i know i'm headed for hell
but still, i wont tell
the secret for which so many were killed
will lay forever hidden in this battlefield
treading on the blood of all who were killed
staring into the shallow unseeing eyes of the fallen
pretending i don't know it's a war no one can win
this fight i've started is a lost cause
but i can't seem to break through these walls
i've barricaded myself inside a lie
