ABSENCE

 I anticipated a sort of disappointment.
I had no idea what it would be.
I thought about it all the time.
It would invade my every dream.

I questioned what your loyalty would be.
I really had no clue.
Absence is the only test,
that brings out what people do.

Not only was my disappointment
more than I suspected.
It saddened my heart to realize
you didn't try to prevent it.

I guess I need to really decide
what it is I should do with you in my life.
I am beside myself not knowing the way.
What I thought I knew doesn't help me today.

I knew you before I ever had interest.
You were known to often run wild.
Nobody changes in life how they practice
the games that they've learned as a child.
