Canadian Snow - A Sonnet

Canadian snow is the term used by other nations
To widely exposed mine tailings already airborne
Folks were at risk to chronic sublethal concentrations
Not only them but also those who are still unborn.
Some got sick and died while others were maimed
Due to acid and metal leaching on benthic seas
Corals, sea grasses and fish habitat were damaged
For turbid waters can’t be tolerated by many species.
Simple people with simple dreams, were robbed
Not only of their livelihood but also their pride
Of a once pristine ecosystem untouched by God
The beauty and tranquility known far and wide.

Environmental impact studies were just ignored
By the corrupted few and to whom we implored.
