Icarus

I flew,
The wings of hope i belong
I soar in the skies as the wind blew
My heart gladdens as the sun rises
I am god! I am Apollo!

Such demise my father has
That escape was the only pass
Is knowledge a deadly sin?
That death justify the works he has made?

Hard as diamond, malleable as gold
My wings of wax, created and mold
The narrow escape is near
A futile effort to liberate myself from this fate.

Oh the feeling of flying!
Such beauty only the gods knew
Now i soar to Olympus
I become them!I will be one of them!

How great it is!
A mere mortal like me to experience this
How brilliant is myself!
The wings i own fluttered as Helios touched thee.

But what is this?
Does my impending doom neared?
My wings dripped to the blacken sea
Is my fate already sealed?

Cursed be the gods!
Cursed be the ocean beneath me!
How come that i am so close to eternity
Yet so far because of my frailty.

My vanity paid a high price
The life of a boy extinguished by fire
As i fall into the abyss,Hades embraced my soul
My arrogance made me realize, I'm not a god
But a mere, mortal.
