My Midnight Door

Midnight
The time of light
And the time of dark
Where everything is to cease
Where a day ends
To make another start

Chaos stops
Order comes
Everything new
From out of old
New thoughts
New shadows
And something new to crack

Like a portal
We open it
Then close it
Making some enter
And some to leave

Pushing away
And pulling in
Exact opposites
Come together
To be one
At only one time
Every time

Some are scared
Some are pleased
Some will hold this time dearly
Some will beg for its end

It's like a door
To another world
To another time
Focus and maybe you will see
The door only lets some through

Only those who deserve
Only those who want
Only those who know it's there

The clock strikes midnight
As I smile
To know
The door has opened to me
To let me enter the other world
To watch this one pass

I stand in front of the door
And turn
And nod my thanks
Then turn back
And walk through
My Midnight door
