the day I remember the most

The day that I remember the most
It gave me a reason to really boast
It started out just another day
Off to work to earn some pay
Wasn’t there for very long, when the news arrived
I was rushed to the hospital don’t worry I’m Alive
I was shown to my wife, chewing on ice and humming
She was in pain, our baby was coming
The doctor came in, said we need to hurry
Your baby is breach but it’s not a big worry
He said there was no time for me to see
Was sent to the waiting room nervous as can be
I sat there watching the price is right
Then came with the news everything was alright
They took my down a well lit hall
Put me in the big chair by the wall
They brought out a neatly wrapped bundle
When opened I saw her and almost crumbled
She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen
The amount of Love I felt then was really obscene
They showed me ten fingers and ten toes, they were all there
On top of her head there was light red hair
They took her away to run a few tests
Then put her out to be viewed by the rest
There I stood looking happily at what I helped to create
Not knowing that a child could be so great
I looked at my father standing there looking content
Towards me the only proud look he had ever sent
From that day forward I knew what I would do
I will always let her know I am proud of you
She will never know how she changed my life that day
This seven pound miracle changed me in so many ways
There is one thing I’ll always be able to say
The level of love for her gets greater each day
I am a proud father I can say without denial
But she brought me to tears when I walked her down the aisle
Many things have changed in my life kind of wild
Except for the unending love for my child
For all of these dads that leave there kids behind
To all the wonderful things they give, you are blind
Your child isn’t looking for a great big sign
All they want is little of your time.
