Star of Anticipation
To hold captivation's soul
within the hands,
many never receive the gift of awareness.
So easy to look the other way
unforgiving and cold.
Many shoulders
have shrugged and turned.
Peering into the looking glass of self,
easy to see ourselves as others do
instead of as we truly are.
Your soul is stained with tears
(of honest confessions)
I see with clarity,
cherishing the heart from which they flow;
from rivers of joy and of pain
Without question,
COMPASSION...
Every once in a while
in a world driven by greed and selfishness
there lies a beacon
in the night,
a friend who cares through the hurts.
You are the star
of anticipation
within the hands,
many never receive the gift of awareness.
So easy to look the other way
unforgiving and cold.
Many shoulders
have shrugged and turned.
Peering into the looking glass of self,
easy to see ourselves as others do
instead of as we truly are.
Your soul is stained with tears
(of honest confessions)
I see with clarity,
cherishing the heart from which they flow;
from rivers of joy and of pain
Without question,
COMPASSION...
Every once in a while
in a world driven by greed and selfishness
there lies a beacon
in the night,
a friend who cares through the hurts.
You are the star
of anticipation

This is a powerful statement
"a beacon
in the night,
a friend who cares through the hurts."
and something that everyone should have and know intimately.

Thank you. It's easy to be a friend when things are smooth. At times it requires sacrifice to care of another. And there are times we must shut the door on a friendship. Never simple. Again, thank you!!

this is an amazing write. It is true that one person can make a difference in an individual's life as a bright star. And also, we do sometimes allows others' opinion of us shape our self perception... that is why I liked this stanza in particular
Peering into the looking glass of self,
easy to see ourselves as others do
instead of as we truly are.
excellent write

I appreciate you venturing into my world. Indeed, HOW we perceive ourselves has much to do with how we live life. Thank you.

You've brought tears to my eyes, sweet Ken. You see so clearly. Perhaps we recognize in others reflections of our own soul. You have a beautiful soul and always bare it in pen so passionately, so masterfully.
