Risk and Ruin
Some fish have
as a part
of their own
fishing apparatus,
a tiny thing
that might wiggle
or in some other way
draw another fish in
as an inquisitive resource
for food
by tricking it
into thinking
the appendage is a worm
of some kind.
Just so
the con man
uses his own
hook, line,
and sinker program
to correct the thoughts
of those
who might otherwise
just walk on by.
How are we
to know
that the politicians
are not using
clever bait
to reel us in
and while we
are proclaiming
their virtues
they are themselves
planning our demise,
one shard
of glass
and sip
of anti-freeze
at a time
until at last
they pickle us
and use our bodies
to stand on
just so they
can see
over the hill
and into the next valley
they are seeking
to conquer?

You know we tend to think a country like Iran or North Korea is an EVIL EMPIRE and we do not realize that the people who live in these countries are not evil...they are politicians. When there is hatred of a whole country on account of what their politicians do...and then the country is boycotted only the poor and women and children suffer....that is what happened in Iraq with Saddam Hussein. All the boycotting did was make the poor pooer, Iraqi women had a higher rate of miscarriages....So we have to separate the people from its leaders. But people do not see that....Every country is ruled by someone who climbed over everybody else in order to get where they were. If they would meet the citizens of the country they would find that they are a mixed group. The people tried to overthrow Iran's leader...but could not...
I knew a woman from Iran who told me in very oblique terms that she had to dress like that..but was otherwise extremely nice, friendly and collegial.

Well, it would help if we got real reports of what is going on around the world. I feel like our news services are twisted and pre-digested. Boycotts of countries do exactly as you have said as far as I can tell. The rich and powerful still get whatever and the ones who suffer then starve. That is very ironic to me. If that is the pattern then we should not underpay and starve our fellow Americans. So our foreign policy is starvation until they revolt, and our domestic policy is to starve them into submission. Ironic.
