Diverging Souls

Unchain my heart, you asked me
yet this is not easily done
much like lassoing the moon
once two hearts have begun
The reckoning builds an attachment
not in the way ownership forms
but in a willing stance
captive in each other's essence
colliding as a comet does the atmosphere
What I hold is dear
you shall be in my heart
where ever my journey leads
There are no chains or shackles
you are free to prevail or succumb
My quest is balance in longing
wasn't meant to unchain your heart
free you of the binds that keep you tethered
I am a free spirit, winged and light
like the gypsies I roam
grasping my limitations
incapable of giving more than I have
With you I am a friend above the fray
opening the door of release
from the confines of your cell
Let go the darkness of childhood
I see a new spirit hovering above
awaiting your turn of the key

*tomorrow marks 4 years since my ex gf left this world much too soon. This was my last note to her as I left a year earlier. Her essence is captured well in the photo I snapped enjoying a soak.
