Parting
I stood in the rain and watched you walk away, walk out of my life. I wanted to scream out, to ask you not to leave but pride silenced my tongue and the words became chocked and muted. I hated you then, just for a split second, I actually felt hate. But then I realised I hated myself more for not trying harder, for not loving you enough to make you want to stay.
I prayed to all the Gods that you would turn round and look back, but you carried on. The rain became harder as though the sky was weeping at this parting. As you disappeared from my sight I looked up – the stars were going out one by one, the world, my world, had started to die.
