I Cannot Join
You ask me to join you
play, and have fun
in the summer heat.
And believe me,
I almost want to.
You are a great friend,
but I cannot enjoy this day with you.
The fleeting desire
To enjoy your company
is immediatly diminished
By my undying disdain
for the rest your your group.
I do not enjoy
assimilating into a group.
The people are rude,
always following the example of
an individual
less unique than a school text.
Please, do not take offence,
I truly do like you
I just cannot join
the company you keep.
