Reminisce
I remember those long walks I'd take to your house
It was usually dusk and the tree tops would snuff what little sunlight that was left
I'd always have butterflies in my stomach
I have some now just thinking about it
I always had a good bit of time between my place and yours to just think
But even then all that was on my mind was you
I bet passersby thought I was crazy because I'd often be smiling to myself just thinking about how, when I got there, our lips would meet, and bliss and heaven would carry us away
I remember those beautiful summer nights when I'd make the trek to you
When I got there I'd see your amazing smile and I too would crack a smile and bite my lip coyly
I remember how, even if I'd had the worst day, your smile, your touch, your kiss, your very presence would melt the ice around my heart
I remember all of these things but tears still form in my eyes because as beautiful as those memories are, as lovely as every encounter was, as sweet as every kiss was, as warm as every embrace was, I will never be able to have that with you again
300 miles separate us and I know you've moved on
You're sharing moments with another man now
Moments, I'm sure, very similar to ours
Still I spend my nights alone, my arms left empty, my lips left untouched, my love unshared
Yet I still get butterflies when I think of you, babygirl
300 miles away and these butterflies turn into knots that make me feel sick, this warmth grows cold, my coy smile turns to tears
I'm alone, I have been for a year now
I have no one to comfort me at the end of my day
I have no one to make new memories with
I have no one with whom I can share the sunset
But I still remember those long walks I'd take to your house
It was usually dusk and the tree tops would snuff what little sunlight that was left
I'd always have butterflies in my stomach
I have some now just thinking about it
I always had a good bit of time between my place and yours to just think
