< poison >
the point of poison
is to speed up life
with a really good poison
you can go through
a whole life
in seconds
my sister and i
learned how to make poison
we made it each time
mother and father
fought
but our poison
wasn't that good
it took years

The first and the last sentence are such contrasting master-strokes. I am adding this one.

I'd change 'good' to 'potent' but I don't want to step on your minimalist toes.
Great concept that has that personal feel to it.
In that respect, most poisons kill slowly. Humanity consists of many potions and poisons.
I'll stick this on the wall because the grim sisters' abstract painting is just as compelling as your words.

Not so much 'minimalist' as 'plain-spoken';
but yes, that was the idea.
The 'grim sisters' (who seem to be a single
person, how apropos) work is pretty interesting.
Love appropriating (stealing) images to use in
my poems. Most fun.

A peck of poisoned peppers Peter Piper picked;
If Peter Piper picked a peck of poisoned peppers,
Where's the peck of poisoned peppers Peter Piper picked?

(OK, I read it. Went away. read it. Went away. that's normal for me. Then I came back and laughed out loud because the art just looked like a ghost-person pooping and that cracked me up. Because I'm highbrow like that.)
I really dug this, it's sort of casually brutal. Love the ability to tell an entire story, beginning to end, in such a short form. Really, this was well done. (Pooping ghosts aside, it was a great piece.)

Well now damn, i kinda liked the art, American Primitivism and all.
It reminds me of the stuff my sister used to paint when we
were kids. i see it as a wee devil-person jumping over a fire
that's shaped like a Hershey's Kiss. All Hallows' Eve, Samhain,
and even more portentously: Chaharshanbe Suri*, an ancient
Iranian festival dating back to the early Zoroastrian's
where one of the main rituals involves jumping over fire.
But yes, my sister painted poo as well. She was like that.

Dude, I LOVE the art. I just had an alternate-universe interp for a minute. (That's all it takes, just a slip, and my inner Bevis and Butthead show up and are like heh heh heh, you said Hershey Kiss.) Again, cool art, good poem. B

oh, well, i'm guessing the discomfort caused by the conflicting,
yet terribly similar cognitions of chocolate kisses, extruded poo,
and childhood trauma activated a few paranormal insecurities
over here on my side of the border, so never mind, i'm pitifully
happy again, thanks, carry on...
