Indoctrination
She takes off her burka,
releases her confined hair,
lets it breath in deeply
all the freshness the world has to offer.
She lets it feel the wind flow through it,
lets it sense the freedom.
He does away with the kippah
placed upon his head,
liberates his cranium
from the darkness it encounters,
senses the sun shine down upon him
and welcomes his own freedom.
They remove the cross
weighing down their bodies,
release its unyielding grip
from around their necks
and lift their heads up high
embracing all their freedom.
Unleash the hold of any religion,
unshackle the remains of ancestors passed on,
unchain the boxes surrounding faith,
the rules, the guidelines.
For is it faith when it’s all one knows,
when it’s been indoctrinated
into the minds of young children,
brainwashing, conforming and creating beings
unable to build their own conclusion’s
from life’s trials?

She lets it feel the wind flow through it,
lets it sense the freedom.
