Tangent Anxiety
Tangent Anxiety
Her hints were too obvious
He wasn’t that daft or blind (she hoped)
Adrenaline and angst stifle her
What will happen now?
Placing an anonymous poem on his desk
That’s how it happened, will he know?
Heart beating erratically
She has not heard from him yet.
Cursing her ever present anxiety
She wished the bus would get there faster
She wanted to know
Does he care for her?
Taking small breathes
She saw him from far
With her poem in hand
And blank expression.
Tears sting her sight
She saw this coming
So she turned away
Avoiding the dismissal of the night.

The poem finishes with an assumption, was she right or was she wrong? we shall never know and neither will she.
