Strangers In Our Own Land
All of a sudden we started trying to be
Running from what we are
So many illusions too promising to see
The future damage of our ignorance
And though we have all the time to retrace
Our lost steps to the very place
Where we fell out of our track
Lazily we procrastinate and lie on our backs
Not knowing the worth of what we've got
All soon to be lost with time
As the custodians in their graves, one by one rot
Then tomorrow our children will speak of this crime
Caught in the middle of a needless cultural transformation
No longer what we use to be
With the main source of our frustration
The inability to be that which we tried to be
Running from what we are
So many illusions too promising to see
The future damage of our ignorance
And though we have all the time to retrace
Our lost steps to the very place
Where we fell out of our track
Lazily we procrastinate and lie on our backs
Not knowing the worth of what we've got
All soon to be lost with time
As the custodians in their graves, one by one rot
Then tomorrow our children will speak of this crime
Caught in the middle of a needless cultural transformation
No longer what we use to be
With the main source of our frustration
The inability to be that which we tried to be
