Free

There were plastic covers on the chair
The cobweb of memories in her hair
And I wondered if she'd ever be free.

There were stars shining in the sky
Reflecting off of tired eyes
And she wondered if she'd ever be free.

Learning to fly,
Learning to run,
And wondering if freedom will come.

A song was ending on the radio
The curtains falling on a living show
And she wondered if she'd ever be free.

An empty threat in an empty home
A forgotten hope with a lonely gun
And I wondered if she'd ever be free.

Learning to fly,
Learning to run,
And wondering if freedom will come.
Learning to roam,
Learning to love,
And wondering if freedom will come.

There's a world forgotten in the mirror there
There's an empty threat hanging in the air
And she wonders if she'll ever be free.

There's an empty room behind a broken door
Pictures of her father laying on the floor
And I wonder if I'll ever be free.

Learning to run,
Learning to fly,
And wondering when freedom will come.
Learning to roam,
Learning to love,
And knowing, someday, freedom will come.

There are plastic covers on the chairs
The cobweb of memories in her hair
But at least I know one day I'll be free.
