The Middleman
They run to me with their story
Ready to do anything for glory
Can I be blamed for my efforts?
For re-writing their pathetic history
Well every easy way has a hard price,mayhem
Then comes this odd complaints against the middleman
I am just the middleman with some gifts
I give nothing free and no tricks
There might be some alterations and I know how it feels
Sincerity's scarce in the dark
Its just a part of the deal
Bring your pathetic souls
In return get power and control
But always remember one thing when it goes down
You didn't make your bargain with me
I was just the middleman

Wow; never thought I would say this but a Bee Gees song sprang up in my head, "Man In The Middle". Back when I was in high school the Bee Gees were the group that if you had one of their albums, you would never admit to it with friends or risk serious scorn!

Oh the song I was referencing was written by Maurice Gibb, who in terms of age, was born in the middle. Maybe a stretch but some of the lyrics that I thought might fit are:
"I'm just the man in the middle
Of a complicated plan
No one to show me the signs
I'm just a creature of habit
In a complicated world
Nowhere to run to
Nowhere to hide"
