Only if You Think You're Ready
Pull my darkness out;
taffy-stretch
and wrap my pain
into cute pieces
of wax paper.
Lose the beautiful shades of hope;
color-blind clarity
and see
the faults
in my pale flesh.
Drink from my lies;
a poisoned cup
and get drunk on
all of these
iatric illusions.
Look past my costume;
beautiful mask
and see the tiny
pathetic pieces
of my ugly existence,
Now tell me how much you love me.
