Delusional Nutter
I could present you with the brightest gemstones that can be found on earth,
but would you only wear that ring just to show off what you're worth?
I could wrap you in a fur shawl made from of a thousand mink,
but would you only wear it because you care what others think?
I could dress you in a robe that only the finest Chinese silk can spin,
but would you only wear it to display the cost contained within?
I could buy you a pair of the very softest wool-lined, kid-skin boot,
but would you only wear them to be recognised as a lady of repute?
Do you want to know the exact value of only that which can be bought?
Demanding to be only given the very best, without a seconds thought?
Do you want to spend your life regarding everything as just a pound sign?
If it isn't the most expensive or exclusive, you would then rather decline?
Is it that you want people fawning over you as the centre of attention?
Do you believe it will make you happy, living a life of such pretension?
Were I to say that it was possible, will I be the one you will adore?
If I were to make that dream come true would it make you love me more?
Then you certainly aren't the woman that I would want to get to know.
I believe in inner beauty and not judging someone for what they show.
Anything that can to be bought for a price will never hold sway in reality,
just baubles, beads and glass held together within a world of triviality.
People will only regard you as an asset that can be purchased and sold,
your beliefs, your spirit, your very soul, measured out in piles of silver and gold.
Eventually no body will even notice that there is a you that exists at all,
just seeing a dummy, a manikin, “a cryin', talkin', breathin, walkin', living doll”
I can bring the stars down to you and forge them into the brightest chains.
Grasp a single strand of sunlight for you to make a tiara with its remains.
Weave a cloak for you made entirely out of the colours of pre-dawn light.
Mix mountain-air and summer breeze into wings, for your soul to take flight.
Ask the revered Himeros to bestow upon you a grain of his own making,
I would plea Thunder Gods to walk alongside you, the very ground quaking.
Capture the ignition-spark of lightning for the Onerioi to bathe your eyes.
Refill you cup from the Fountain of Youth, feeding you Honeydew supplies
I just want you only for who you are. The imperfectly perfect you that I crave.
You will forever be a gorgeous Princess, as it too much to ask to be your knave?
My soul is so growing old and tired now, witnessing far more death than birth
But is has never encountered such a second individual soul-twin stranded here on earth
I don't want to hold you in reverence because then I'd be treating you as a Goddess,
But if I offered to take you by the hand to the thirteenth star, would you say yes?
As always, I understand that these are the rambling, thoughts of a simple, delusional nutter
But the love that I feel towards you is burning, why can't it at least raise your heart to flutter.
