Numb
'My God' I croak.
The familiar handwriting, at the door I froze,
The scruffy scrawl on the envelope,
A vague numbness overcomes
Where are the emotions I thought would come?
Practiced in my head seemingly a thousand times or so,
The furious anger and love so ironically betrothed,
Towards the man I loved and loathed.
Instead, a nothingness, a thruthful cold.
Seemingly infinite
As the endless rolling of the waves at night.
An inwards numbness rolls through me,
A catalyst for an immortal rage,
Boiling and brewing since that day.
Slouching in the armchair now,
the envelope slipped under a stack of magazines.
My girlfriend, completely distraught as I block her out completely,
She misunderstands, like the others.
If I opened up to her all there would be is anger.
For I am my Father's son.
