Death

 
 
I hate to say  
that I am afraid to die;  
Because I do not believe  
that there is a Heaven-  
No gates of white peril,  
or oceans and castles in the sky.  
 
I regret to say that  
I am afraid of my death;  
For I believe that there is  
not a Hell-  
No underground afterlife,  
of our deepest fears, that  
burns the flesh for all eternity.  
 
Why I am afraid to die  
is because I know, and  
feel, that it will only be  
Darkness and Silence.  
No Light,  
No Sound.  
Darkness  
is all that will be found.
