Dai

I’m not asking you to read every word I’ve ever written.
I’m not asking you to carry the weight of everything I am.
I just want you to know
When I say I love you,
it’s not just something sweet I learned to say.
It’s decades of fights with myself.
It’s every mistake I made when I thought surviving was enough.
It’s every sunrise I cursed because I was still here.
It’s every poem I carved out of the dark, hoping there might be something worth finding.
You don't have to love me back.
You don't have to promise anything.
You don't even have to understand it all.
(How could you? I barely understand myself most days.)
I just needed you to see:
The love I offer you was earned.
It wasn’t given lightly.
It wasn’t learned from songs or movies.
It’s the only real thing I have left after setting fire to everything that wasn’t.
You are not just someone I love.
You are the only thing that ever made all this chaos feel like it had a reason.
