When Coca-Cola did this, it turned out to be a fiasco.

It was not a success and it certainly didn't thrive.
Coca-Cola abandoned the old formula and released the new.
Millions of people were angry and some even threatened to sue.
When it came to the 'New Coke', it was something that most people hated.
Coca-Cola started making the original again because people were devastated.

I remember New Coke! It's an interesting deep dive....Coca-Cola was spending a lot of money on an expensive chemical in the original formula and wanted it removed, but knew that customers would complain and revolt at the subtle change in taste, so they introduced "New Coke", a product without the chemical that they KNEW would terrible. People demanded the "old" formula back, and sure enough, the subtle change taste of the new, cheaper replacement chemical would be barely noticed. The ol' switch-a-roo. I certainly don't remember noticing, but I was 12. I barely noticed my own shadow lol
I guess it IS a good thing they took the cocaine out of it, though.
