(for my son)
I take your weight and rest it
on my old white cage
chest to chest
beats apart
beats together
yours is faster
just as strong
your lungs take the air quick
reaping its fruit
returning its seed
faster bellows
just as strong
feeding your drum
feeding your thoughts
growing inside
growing outside
growing faster
stronger
I watch you sleep and dream
of colours, sounds,
of no way down -
so we'll climb in your dreams;
from your waking screams;
from all the worlds of gravity
and the found worlds in between
I take your weight and rest it
on my old white cage
chest to chest
beats apart
beats together
yours is faster
just as strong
your lungs take the air quick
reaping its fruit
returning its seed
faster bellows
just as strong
feeding your drum
feeding your thoughts
growing inside
growing outside
growing faster
stronger
I watch you sleep and dream
of colours, sounds,
of no way down -
so we'll climb in your dreams;
from your waking screams;
from all the worlds of gravity
and the found worlds in between
