~& the caw-ing cute, the cranial city Crow.. will go uncared for:(
at fourish fivish this a dark sunday dawn..
I hear the sharp & haste cawing calls
of them
(… yes, the same them whom had known
& bonded well right from my childhood…
them- the gathered brainy birds..
the simplistic & highly social, the indian
house crow in its black n faded bodied
greys.. in its small statured built than
their bigger relative.. the wild pitch black
violent ravens…
thanks to my dad, an avid bird lover.. he
used to feed them on a daily routine over
our cemented window sills.. that gotten
gluey n then dried up as starchy hard often
from the cooked rice kept hot & fresh from
the pot.. to the distant waiting them in keenly
staring shiny black pearly eyes.. that eerily
roll in as lightning rotating whites in such
fluctuations.. from their triple batting eyelids
in gradiently lapsed closures..
them the beloved birds..
..was deeply enlightening & touching.. to
know that they recognised & loved us.. &
each crow in turn we clearly identified.. in
their some unique features that differentiated
them inspite of an alike looking crowy crowd
for an indifferent anyone whose not bonded
to them..
myself n my lil bro then.. even named them
.. one of our most fav crow that was bit much
affectionate, ‘Sadhu Karuppu’- the Saintly Black
as called.. used to sit for patiently long idle hours
in the window.. as if he been an integral of our
family household.. as if a blessed previous birth
reconnect.. in the remnant memories in him..
that’s perhaps still tiding afresh )
to hear them at all.. if not at this nascent dawn ..
was shell shocked to the least.. as this high-rise
heartless soulless silicon city had already overly
compromised their habitats n feeding sources..
its but
a sad state of affairs..
these ubiquitous indian house crows
are simply being made absolutely extinct
from the face of our earth, from our
memories even..
& the boasting so humane species..
keeps apocalyptically going on .. into
such killing spree.. unapologetically
adding fuel to this vicious manmade fire..
this one link below i read was hitting hard
I quote this from it, words of a naturalist~ bird watcher..
“any species that ties itself to man.. is bound
to be in trouble.. its now the crow’s turn..”
