I Love Me
There was no farewell performance,
I threw away those seven-inch heels.
It's crazy how things fall into place
when you learn to respect yourself.
If he asks for pictures,
I leave him on unread.
I got my demons and angels shaking hands.
I can step into the shadows if I must,
just know, my demons work for me
while you're still battling yours.
Charlie told me we'd meet again,
and now I can't wait for him to show.
He'll either join my legion or get annihilated,
either way, he'll bow to me.
Putting everything on private,
conserving my energy—
I'll only pour into those who pour into me.
I laugh when a man tells me
I'll die alone.
We're all going to die eventually,
the only difference is I'm content with death,
I know she loves me.
I got men reflecting in my reflection,
telling me their fears to my mirror.
Project if you want,
just know your words don't affect me.
I've been dabbling with synonyms and syllables
since I could start writing.
Trusting my intuition,
I've had so many men tell me
they can see the future—
baby, I birthed fortune tellers,
kids who see the real future
the moment they came out the womb.
You think you can step up to me?
You better turn around
and play your game with another,
someone who doesn’t realize her divinity.
Body in the best shape it's ever been,
still, I said fuck an encore,
leave the stage for those
who don’t know their true worth.
I got no time for mind games,
I’m too busy working on my energy,
exploring the talents God gave me.
