Writing a Poem on an Ambien Cloud

Thought I'd write a poem
On a wave of Ambien foam
On a wave, right now, coherent
And untrustworthy

Unstable
Like answering
my Drunk Mother's call,
something I would never do
When my brains is functionally queued
or writing texts
of loving gestures
to a man
that I have no care for

Maybe  I love him
But he smells like cigarettes
and failure

Slide my phone under my bed
because I'll write words I'll dread
in the morning.
Tho I sleep on a pillow of air
My thoughts hardly care
where they drift, where they dwindle,
where they idly wander
Idly find cleverly hidden caves
where no thoughts were known to be.
It's ugly in the depths of the mind.

I'll allow my brain to rest
it feels a little drunk tho the thoughts are murky
and gray skies drift ominously close.
Sleep is a terrifying mountain to climb into.
Monsters and death and paralytic seizures.
But off I go into to forest....

I must take the pill to leap.  I would never jump so
far into a barren, dangerous sea without one.
