Just around the corner
The car crash
The bodies inside making silent history
The girl
Her head smashed into the steering wheel
Her beautiful face
Her skull
Her forehead caved in and purple
The woman next to her
Her body
Her gentle eyes filled with glass
Her unborn child, twisted inside, neck broken, back broken, small mouth open, full of black congealed blood
The five year old boy in the back seat
Neck broken, legs wrapped around each other, broken several times
His little arms wrapped around himself as if he was freezing
Nothing moves
The car & broken bodies wait for the cleanup crew
A crowd gathers around the car
People looking in as if it was a space ship that contained visitors from another world
Ten minutes ago no one would like at them twice
But now, they command a captive audience
The corpses in the car must have done something incredible
Everyone's asking the person next to them if they saw what happened
The police come and tell everyone to go home
Those that can walk do
Those that are dead will need assistance.

Sorry to hear this about your father. Car wrecks are tragic. No one is ever prepared to hear the news about someone close dying this way. Appreciate the comments.

We never know what will be going on just around the corner, do we. And if something like an accident happens it can be turned into a spectacle Somehow the last line struck me as a metaphor that the dead would need more assisting the the living. This struck me as something that could be a theme in your piece, is it about the dead , the living or the living dead. Anyways, sending you greetings and blessings for your day

Hello Rianne,
Welcome & thank you for reading and commenting on this piece. The last line is more satirical then anything. I mentioned the living can just walk home but the dead will need assistance. If you begin reading my writes, you'll see I have a lot of satire in there. We all find humor in different places, I find it in dark/grim like tales. You have a wonderful day as well.

Re. Just around the corner
Keith.. your writings on various happenings near around you .. brings on your awareness n emphathetic soul n the many untouched upon facets that your pen lights enlightens to a raring soul like me ever.. am always fascinated by the crowd behaviour or the gherao concept that naturally happens in such accidents or mishappening - out of curiosity .. & there is a general deep sadness shared & a deep feeling that the loss of lives could have been prevented or saved.. this is that nature in each one that feels as one nature cosmic soul , that which always needs life to thrive .. n not death .. your description of the accident in all it’s mangled bloody scene.. tells of the pain n brutal fate of those beings that went through such illfatedness..
esp. children n unborn embryo in there.. wordlessly unbearable this is!
deep silence n prayers ..
& Salutes to you Keith .. am amazed each time you write of such societal (mid)happenings that bring 8& touch upon a personal n spiritual angle feel within xxx

Thank you Uma for the RL. You have a way with words critiquing my stories. I thank you. The last line though reveals the warped humor that I possess.

I used to want one. They were $7 at Hastings. 7 is gods number haha Did you ever have that store? Almost like a blockbuster for cds and also books. Like a half blockbuster and half Barnes and noble music and books. You would have liked it but it closed down so sad. I used to go there all the time

I was more into alternative rock at the time so I'd buy things that sounded similar to linkin park. I was very young. Probably in middle school. You just had to pick a cd and buy it and hoped you liked it.
