awakenings

accepting invitation
the herder stands
a distant shaped shade

woolen coats tender ears
fluttering to catch each
fallen sound

unlocking small gates
cloven hooves clatter
the lone sheep waits

hers is colossal bleating
I look into her inquiring glance
repenting not her stoic nature
respecting distance

the herder tells me
she tends to follow
his every footsteps

there were no little lambs
she strayed from the other ewes
upon an open pasture
he shares a flask

I lean back
basking into benevolent
music of sheeps bells
by each variety
of sounds

the herder will know
their where abouts
prolonged is
each gust
of spring

late is my return
I hear the low lullaby
when lone sheep sings
adieu my love

you are
of bountiful
beauty
