Unchained

I once conformed to the beaten path,
Believing solitude was a life unfulfilled.
The weight of expectation, a burden to bear,
Each failed relationship a reflection of my worthlessness to share.

But in stillness, I discovered a truth profound,
The emptiness I felt was not solitude, but a love unreciprocated, unbound.
I toiled in relationships, pouring heart and soul,
Only to find myself alone, my spirit growing old.

Now, I shed the chains that society dictates,
Embracing my individuality, no longer hesitant.
I rediscover myself, my passions, my peaceful nest,
A homebody, content in solitude, I find my best.

The world may view my singleness as a lack,
But I've found a strength in self-sufficiency, a heart that's intact.
If life's journey leads me to you, know it's by choice,
Not necessity, but a heart that's found its voice.
