The Fires Spread
It came from the night
A shadow unbidden, a hunger unnamed
Torn fields lie in its wake
The marrow of the world split and spent
Give me the strength
To tread this charnel ground
To walk through sundered ribs
And gaze upon the scattered skull of potential
Where the future was butchered
Where tomorrow went to die
Now I sit among the ruins of the living wood
A silent witness, a weary judge
Contemplating the nature of the beast
That which devours, that which desecrates
The embers stir
Like worms in the belly of carrion
Eaten and rapidly unmade
My pitch-drenched arrow, now aflame
Arcs through the void
A herald of wrath
A star burning against the abyss
Buried deep in its heart
My Apollonian display
Order brought to chaos
The fire takes hold
And though the body writhes
Though it thrashes in living perdition
Let it be known
I have exiled it from life
A shadow unbidden, a hunger unnamed
Torn fields lie in its wake
The marrow of the world split and spent
Give me the strength
To tread this charnel ground
To walk through sundered ribs
And gaze upon the scattered skull of potential
Where the future was butchered
Where tomorrow went to die
Now I sit among the ruins of the living wood
A silent witness, a weary judge
Contemplating the nature of the beast
That which devours, that which desecrates
The embers stir
Like worms in the belly of carrion
Eaten and rapidly unmade
My pitch-drenched arrow, now aflame
Arcs through the void
A herald of wrath
A star burning against the abyss
Buried deep in its heart
My Apollonian display
Order brought to chaos
The fire takes hold
And though the body writhes
Though it thrashes in living perdition
Let it be known
I have exiled it from life
