The Stillness
In the still of night
She'd take me home
And lay me down
And make sweet love to me
And I recall
Those nights were the best of my life
It seems a thousand years ago
When we were both so happy
With stars in our eyes
And we were over the moon in love
I swear to God that I recall
It was the sweetest time of my life
And we've tried to go back
And reclaim that feeling
But it's never really the same
As when the world was ours alone
Now when the night is still
I wish that I could return to that sweet time
And see your smiling face
And carry you home to bed
But it never gets that still
And God knows you can't go back
So I sleep in the stillness
And dream of you
She'd take me home
And lay me down
And make sweet love to me
And I recall
Those nights were the best of my life
It seems a thousand years ago
When we were both so happy
With stars in our eyes
And we were over the moon in love
I swear to God that I recall
It was the sweetest time of my life
And we've tried to go back
And reclaim that feeling
But it's never really the same
As when the world was ours alone
Now when the night is still
I wish that I could return to that sweet time
And see your smiling face
And carry you home to bed
But it never gets that still
And God knows you can't go back
So I sleep in the stillness
And dream of you
