Daughter of Shadows III

Fearing creatures of the night
naming us evil
as reason to hate
but the real monsters live in the light
just look at the horror they have wrought

The murder of children born of the night
crying tears of agony
vengeance now my right
innocent lives now laying in blood

Listen all who call night our home,
I am the Daughter of Shadows and this is my tale of woe

In the beginning I hid in shadows
to escape the hand of man
but found much more hidden within the dark,
I found a home and fell in love
Night returned my unrequited dreams
loving me with passionate darkness
and so my love grew for the children of shadow
but I call lost little imps my children

Sleep little ones, sleep
even darkness needs to rest
Do not hate the people of the light
they are afraid and you are so, so brave
Sleep little ones, sleep
I give you comfort and peace
Sleep little ones, sleep
I will watch over you as you dream

yet now I feel no love
for those invading my home
slaughtering the children of the night
I once held in my arms
Knowing peace and love
now feeling only blinding rage

I sought and hunted the evil
who thought it fun to hunt the dark
I grew claws to pluck out their eyes
and learned something new
to suck out their souls

Yet the greatest gift in the land of shadow
is the forgetting of the evil done
and how we were driven into the night
So I continue to seek my innocent imps
lost and fearing the world of light
taking them home and tucking them in
singing my tale of woe but also my song of love

Sleep little ones, sleep
dream dark fun without the sun
I give you comfort and peace
Sleep little ones, sleep
Do not hate the people of the light
they are afraid and you are so, so brave
Sleep little ones, sleep
I will watch you as you dream

Thank you dear readers for reading this long
there is an addendum of sorts for the fateful ones
I've kept them alive, extending their lives
a hundred years have past since this tale began
My lover Night has driven them mad and their screams
now comfort my children almost like lullabies.
