Moonlit Madness
There's a flagship that stole the moon
Dragged her through the mountains
Skewered its flank with a big harpoon
And the wolves cried in fountains
Why is the sun looking so grey now
It's missing the ghoulish messenger
Gravitating, orbitating little passenger
There's no night, all heads must bow
The blood of the astral body falls
Black splotches across the walls
After a while, anymals lay curled
Then blue waves consume the world
Has everybody gone insane?
Nobody rejoices at the destruction
Celebration should've shook the nation
The celestial being has gone in pain!
In the dark times comes the flagship
It ran a wicked course across the Earth
Sailing so, it comes across hardship
Guilt and sadness has replaced the mirth
The captain comes to mortalkind
And sings to them these words unkind:
"Silly seadogs and puny landlubbers
The moon is gone, now you can slumber!"
"No more pesky night, or its eerie servants
That hoot and screech and growl and scream
No more of this hideous ball, unwanted observant
Mortalkind will now live a sleepless dream!"
But to the moon-thief's cry, no one replies
The world wants its moon back and quick
Its silent beauty, like shimmering fireflies
Won't be replaced by a pirate's cunning trick
And so the flagship, full of guilt and pain
Drops the moon down back to fly again
Celebrate each night as if it were the last
Some mundane things now fade in the past
And so that your children may see a moon
Fight and cry for it, as our lights will eclipse it soon
Dragged her through the mountains
Skewered its flank with a big harpoon
And the wolves cried in fountains
Why is the sun looking so grey now
It's missing the ghoulish messenger
Gravitating, orbitating little passenger
There's no night, all heads must bow
The blood of the astral body falls
Black splotches across the walls
