Brand New Monarchies
Of the rich the poor should be suspicious
since we remember from old afflictions
that too much cash makes them injudicious
and prone to corruptions and addictions.
Evil hides behind tradition's shield
and unchecked influence leads to bad things
which is why old yankees took the field
to tell the world that we don't need kings!
Yet now we're told to kiss the rich man's ass
and that any sort of foment is treason,
but sometimes when the boss is unduly crass
that fomented voice...is the voice of reason!
Somehow deplorables now think they're free,
with law "fired" by a rank debauchee.

Excellent poem.
I watched MLK tributes rather than the inauguration ( if you want to call it that ). I will keep up with the news; however, I refuse to pay any attention to a felon who never had the balls to admit he was wrong.
In other related news, a friend of mine from Montana just paid $6.50 for a carton of eggs. I mean, that is all that matters, right? Eggs and gas?

Today I saw a meme with the Statue of Liberty walking away with two suitcases, and sadly, I don't think anything sums up the situation better than that.

And I think today's well recorded Nazi salute from Elon Musk, settles once and for all who had the best arguments in all those DUP political forum threads that got banned.

Yeah, that's why I'm staying focused on Martin Luther King, Jr.
Unlike MAGA, he actually did read books, and it showed.
It still shows, and it will still show long after MAGA is gone.

Yes!
And that's got so much to do with how well read he was, and his experience as a preacher honed his comfort level for public speaking:)
A brilliant man!

Especially in a country that brags about getting its start by nixing George 3.
Re. Brand New Monarchies
There won't be big reveals. Every day, little by little folks are going to realize the pains of getting fucked over by the government they voted for. They may try to blame Obama, or Biden, or Kamala, but in the end (no pun intended), those of us across the isle will be shaking our heads saying "told you so".

Yep, and pick any topic or issue we quickly realize that he's intentionally using the federal government as a wrecking ball.
For example, he wants to do away with wind and solar power, even though the power companies want to head in that direction and ultimately will because they just make way more sense.
MAGA is all about destruction, and folks who voted for him voted for the abuse of children who will be separated from their families. They bitched up a storm about abusing kids then voted to abuse kids.
