I loved you then
so intensely
now somewhere
buried 'neath the callouses
hides the present tense
cocooned
but when you touch this guarded heart
there remains
no safer feeling
should i feel sorry?
or glad?

sorry I slapped away the hand
that help me safe
I am
glad to once have felt
that truest touch of love
Might a future tense
Return me
Safely home?
