She Drinks...
**Trigger Warnings**
She drinks away the pain
To forget life for a while
She drinks away the pain
Where once was a smile
She drinks away the pain
The past makes her cold
She drinks away the pain
She's a tortured old soul
He tries to ease the pain
It's all a little too late
He tries to ease the pain
Life's cruel, that's fate
She drinks away the pain
Words that never got said
She drinks away the pain
Now she is dead
She drinks away the pain
To forget life for a while
She drinks away the pain
Where once was a smile
She drinks away the pain
The past makes her cold
She drinks away the pain
She's a tortured old soul
He tries to ease the pain
It's all a little too late
He tries to ease the pain
Life's cruel, that's fate
She drinks away the pain
Words that never got said
She drinks away the pain
Now she is dead
Author's Note
Unfortunately I've lost so many people to addiction, my Godfather, whom we were great friends, my Aunt, friends and seen so many at work.
As humans we are so quick to judge someone's pain sometimes without knowing their backstory which through experience is often a trigger for a person's addiction, it can happen to the best of us.

I've lost people to addiction, not all of them have passed away.
Sometimes it's not a matter of not having the strength to give up the torment.

The ones who drink in the shadows, in silence, those are the ones I worry about. What we don't see is definitely NOT nothing. I have several people in my life who are struggling with alcohol addiction. I can't help but watch them like hawks. Not in judgment, in concern & fear for them.

Yes... sadly this being the end result with your final line. I too have watched someone close go through your listed alcoholic addiction stages, until the end. It's often a helpless situation for everyone concerned. Your write needed to be written & indeed to be heard, Pete. 🙏
