“A Letter To You”
He says he’s a changed man
Believing in the faith as she does.
He’s speaking all the right words now,
But somehow, she can’t seem to hold on to him.
She tells him she doesn’t want a relationship,
But maybe it’s her heart that no longer knows love.
Her guilt lingers in a purgatory state,
And each breath she inhales feels like a weight being added on
She writes about him, and the ink turns into longing,
Making her question if she’s still in love.
These feelings, a labyrinth of confusion,
She had never been here before, lost in these twists of everlasting uncertainty
She’s sorry for the pain she caused,
For the wounds left unhealed.
They spoke, and feelings that lay dormant,
Only to fade once more into the shadows.
She hurting herself in this uncertainty,
Not knowing what she wants
She says she didn’t just miss the idea of him,
But perhaps, that's all it is now—
Missing the familiarity, the warmth, the love that felt like home.
He filled the void, yet somehow, it felt wrong as reality settled in
She couldn’t continue this love,
Couldn't keep hurting him this way.
To him—the one she once loved,
She wishes him nothing but the best,
A letter from her heart to his:
“Never settle with someone who makes you question your worth,
Who leaves you with ifs, ands, or buts.
You deserve whole love,
Not one that wavers.
Goodbye, my love.”
