deliverance

we both know
if he issues a challenge
I'm gonna run with it
gold-plate it
tie it with a bow

& leave him jaw dropped
thick with appreciation
crowding me into a corner
aggression taking over
curling my toes with that deep chest growl

because he doesn't tell me I can do better
unless it's true
but even he never knows how far I'll take it
just that I'll see it all the way through
...with a little something extra
...for his effort

& I only call his bluff
when I want to feel the repercussions
he knows this too
accusing me of being facetious
as if I'd ever tease him
I don't say it...
...if I don't mean it

he doesn't tell me what to do
because it sets too many limits
I have free rein to blow his mind
bring him gloriously up
adorning him with my shine
then deliver it gift-wrapped
...so he can do the unveiling...
...at his leisure...
...of course

he always gets what he wants
{as do I}
when I serve it up
results in my palms
head down
& waiting

his challenge
my deliverance
we both reap the benefits
