Without you
Without you, I walk paths I’d never choose,
Speak words I’d never utter,
become someone I barely know.
I am nothing—or maybe just numb—without you.
But I do not need you.
I have to let go.
Let go of you, of us, of the endless what ifs.
Because if I don’t,
I will wither.
I will rot into a shadow of myself,
A hollow thing all will despise.
But I will be better.
I must be better.
I will be, without you…
Speak words I’d never utter,
become someone I barely know.
