Strawberries were my joy. Grandma always had a huge patch we were allowed to snack on any time we wanted. Not alot of blackberries where I was or I might have learned a different kinda food joy. Amazing where flavor takes you...

Oh yeah, my first job was strawberry picking in England. I think my first paycheck was 2lbs back in the early 70's. I was only around 9 or 10, but a truckload of us went. It's true that flavors do take us down memory lane! xo

Re. Wild Blackberries
Picking blackberries was such a feature of childhood in my own English countryside upbringing. When in season never wanted for blackberry and apple crumbles! I have a wild bramble in my back garden which some years (this included) has produced much fruit to make blackberry and apple sauce for my breakfast cereals.

I think somehow, except for maybe those who grew up in the city, it was for all of us, Solomon. Never tried blackberry & apples together - that is something I might have to try when they're both in season! Now apple sauce is a different story! Love it! Thank you for your generous comment!

Ohh I love mulberries too, and blueberries, strawberries, and muscadines! I grew up outside for the early part of my life, so my fruit was mostly consumed from bushes and trees and vines, oh my! Crab apples were another favorite, but oh boy. . .eat too many of those and . . . like you, mine are endless!
Thank you for your generous words, Uma. I'm happy this took you back to your youth! Your comp is a charm! xo

Thank you, Damian! Wild blackberries are the best, especially in a bubbly cobbler with, yes, homemade vanilla ice cream!

It's amazing how certain fruits can bring us back to childhood, to being in nature, wild and free, picking fruits and enjoying them :-)

Thank you, Duende! Blackberries are so versatile in color, aren't they?! They create red cobblers and wine, black tongues, and blue lips! Thank you, my friend. Your support is truly appreciated. xo
