We’re getting paid

We both wake up before the rooster calls

Do our routine don’t want to be late for school

Bell rings class is ending

Head for the locker room where I’m the One

You are in the state championship I’m trying too

All the sudden I’m in the papers and screens

We are colliding with greatness on different pay scales

I am better than you I bring more fans to watch me

You are excellent but not as good as me
And you will disagree

You are a tree that gives me shade but I can

Do the right thing every time(almost human)

Graduation night we both walk down in different towns but

They all applaud our greatness especially
Those in the rafters( cause they’re the real fans)

Golf claps in the front row they are deciding your future

They have Bean Counters disguised as accountants

Doing actuary about how much you will make for them

In the bright lights it feels like an auction

Walk in dressed to the nines

Smile but you know they are stealing from your skills

Wake up early next morning trying to figure out
What happened

Instead of going to my phone like we all do

Sit on the couch stretch my mind out to figure out

Still old school I don’t say Hey Alexa or Siri or you know  

I know I can put an app on my phone but
They steal your soul(data)

ATT still hast let me know my Social Security
And my address have been stolen

Hackers surfing on the wires of the internet

Sorry to go off on a tangent but it’s maddening

I sit stunned thinking I might soon be a multimillionaire off of all the of sweat and tears

iPhone rings I try not answer like I’m desperate
