The Tortoise and the Hare

One day a hare and a tortoise had a fight
They discussed the things both wrong and right, neither could decide the way and so they raced the very next day !

The hare was smug, as hares will be,
“A race? With you? Don’t make me pee!
You’re slow as sludge, you’ve got no flair
I'll dust you off and beat you bare!”

The tortoise grinned, a wily chap,
And snapped his fingers with a clap.
“We’ll race tomorrow, sharp at eight.
And may the best one claim their fate!”

The day arrived, the sun was bright,
The animals turned out to sight
The great event, the epic chase,
The tortoise in his plodding pace.

“Three, two, one, GO!” The weasel roared,
The hare shot off, the crowd adored!
He zipped and zapped through fields of green,
A blur no eye had ever seen.

But halfway through, the hare grew bold,
“I’m miles ahead, this path is cold!
I’ll stop awhile at Mr. Toad’s,
And toast my win with ale in loads!”

Inside the pub, the hare did strut,
And ordered beers with frothy cut.
With every swig, his ego swelled,
While patrons cheered and stories yelled.

Now Tortoise, plodding slow and true,
Had planned a plot so slyly shrewd.
He flagged an Uber, sleek and black,
A chauffeur in a sharp top hat.

“Step in,” the driver tipped his cap.
“We’ll take a shortcut on the map!”
And off they zoomed, with quiet speed,
No one could spy the crafty deed.

At last, the Hare, his pint complete,
Thought, Time to win—this will be sweet!
But when he dashed back to the track,
He saw the Tortoise far, far back.

The crowd erupted, cries of glee,
As tortoise crossed in victory!
The hare gasped loud, his mouth ajar
“The race was rigged! You took a car!”

The tortoise winked. “You took a rest.
While I? I planned and did my best.
So learn this, friend: it’s not the pace,
But brains and grit that win the race!”

The hare hung low, his ego fried,
While Toad’s pub boomed with cheers inside.
And though slow folks don’t always shine,
That day, the tortoise had his time.

See dear friends the Moral is, Slow and steady still wins the race, but a little cleverness doesn’t hurt!
