The Goodbye
She was scared
You could smell her sweat
She could hear the anger in his voice
The frozen look of agitation in his facial reactions
Scars inside bruise her
She knew she had to leave
But there was piece of her that wanted nothing more than to stay
She placed the mask of bravery on
And her heart appeared weightless of past burdens in his eyes
But her insides were flooded with sadness
Her mind was boggled with terror
His disdain of her was more than she could accept
Bag after bag put into the back of a trunk
Kids strapped in place in the backseat
She takes a seat
She places her seat belt on
Only knowing half of what to expect
He doesn't wave goodbye instead just walks back inside his dwelling
You could smell her sweat
She could hear the anger in his voice
The frozen look of agitation in his facial reactions
Scars inside bruise her
She knew she had to leave
But there was piece of her that wanted nothing more than to stay
She placed the mask of bravery on
And her heart appeared weightless of past burdens in his eyes
But her insides were flooded with sadness
Her mind was boggled with terror
His disdain of her was more than she could accept
Bag after bag put into the back of a trunk
Kids strapped in place in the backseat
She takes a seat
She places her seat belt on
Only knowing half of what to expect
He doesn't wave goodbye instead just walks back inside his dwelling
